Myers Briggs personality test

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self-report personality assessment that categorizes individuals into 16 distinct psychological types based on preferences across four dichotomous dimensions.

The Four Dichotomies

• Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I): How you direct and receive energy—whether outward toward people and activity or inward toward reflection.

Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): How you take in information—whether through tangible, hands-on facts and the five senses or through patterns, impressions, and big-picture possibilities.

Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): How you make decisions—whether by prioritizing objective logic and truth or personal values, empathy, and social harmony.

Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): How you approach the outer world—whether you prefer structure, planning, and closure or flexibility, spontaneity, and open options.

16 Personality Types

Combining one preference from each of the four pairs creates a four-letter code (such as INTJ, ENFP, or ISTP) representing your dominant habits and mental process hierarchy.

• Analysts: INTJ, INTP, ENTJ, ENTP

Diplomats: INFJ, INFP, ENFJ, ENFP

Sentinels: ISTJ, ISFJ, ESTJ, ESFJ

Explorers: ISTP, ISFP, ESTP, ESFP

Purpose and Limits

• Self-Understanding: Designed by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers based on Carl Jung’s theory, the framework aims to improve communication, self-awareness, and team dynamics.

Preferences, Not Fixed Traits: The assessment measures natural inclinations rather than rigid limits or actual skills. You can access both sides of every preference depending on the situation.
